Ethical Guidelines for Publication in Sadaqa Journal

The publication of peer-reviewed articles in Sadaqa Journal serves as a vital contribution to the advancement of scholarly knowledge in Islamic economics and philanthropy. As a reflection of academic quality, all parties involved—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—must adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

The Islamic Economics Department, Postgraduate Program, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, as the publisher of Sadaqa Journal, is committed to maintaining integrity throughout the publication process. Editorial decisions are made independently, without influence from commercial interests such as advertising or reprint revenue.

Editorial Responsibilities

  1. Publication Decisions:

    • The editor evaluates submissions based on academic merit, relevance, and adherence to ethical guidelines.

    • Decisions are guided by journal policies, legal standards (e.g., plagiarism, copyright, and libel laws), and peer reviewer recommendations.

  2. Fair Evaluation:

    • Manuscripts are assessed solely on intellectual content, without bias regarding race, gender, religion, nationality, or political affiliation.

  3. Confidentiality:

    • Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Only the corresponding author, reviewers, and editorial advisors may access them.

  4. Conflict of Interest:

    • Editors must not use unpublished manuscript content for personal research without the author’s explicit permission.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  1. Contribution to Peer Review:

    • Reviewers provide constructive feedback to assist editors in decision-making and help authors improve their work.

  2. Promptness and Competence:

    • Reviewers who cannot evaluate a manuscript promptly or lack expertise should decline participation.

  3. Confidentiality and Objectivity:

    • Manuscripts must remain confidential, and critiques should be objective, supported by evidence, and free from personal bias.

  4. Citation and Plagiarism Checks:

    • Reviewers should identify uncited relevant works and alert editors to any overlap with published literature.

  5. Conflict of Interest:

    • Reviewers must disclose any competing interests and recuse themselves if conflicts exist.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  1. Academic Integrity:

    • Submissions must present original research with accurate data and transparent methodology.

    • Fraudulent or misleading claims are unacceptable.

  2. Originality and Attribution:

    • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is prohibited. Proper citations must accompany all referenced material.

  3. Exclusive Submission:

    • Concurrent submissions to multiple journals are unethical. Manuscripts must not duplicate prior publications without justification.

  4. Authorship and Acknowledgments:

    • Only individuals who significantly contributed to the research should be listed as co-authors.

    • All contributors must approve the final manuscript before submission.

  5. Conflict of Interest Disclosure:

    • Authors must declare financial or personal interests that could influence the research.

  6. Error Correction:

    • Authors are obligated to notify the journal of significant errors in published work and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

Retraction Policy

Sadaqa Journal follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for retracting articles in cases of:

  • Unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error.

  • Redundant publication without proper attribution.

  • Plagiarism or unethical research practices.

Plagiarism Screening
